Its Official

I took the blood test at the Dr. and I'm NOT pregnant. Not that I ever thought I was, its not like I would have blogged about it if I thought there was a chance I was. Sorry guys, I'm not THAT open. So we've reached a real problem...whats wrong with me? Boys, its not gross. Its just my health we're talking about here. My Dr. obviously wasn't too concerned, he had other patients to get to. So I'm having to turn to the internet to answer my medical questions. I'm pretty sure this is EXACTLY what Dr.s don't want you to do. Maybe I'll find my way to a gyno cuz its not the family Dr.s thing. I do want babies SOME day (eventually)-- I don't want to find out I have uterine cancer or something bad and dramatic when its too late...

Hey Bree, on my mission, I went six months w/o a period, and I was a pretty obedient missionary so obviously pregnancy was out ;) After that, I had a period for a month straight (yeah, that was pretty cool). Anyway, we had some health packet in our missionary materials that said it was a pretty common occurrence in missionaries, usually caused by stress or new surroundings, things like that. And yeah, the BMI thing certainly wasn't my problem either. I had plenty of extra pounds on me then. I talked to a doctor about it, but she wasn't too concerned about it. She said I could start a birth control pill if I wanted to get on a regular schedule. Obviously, I don't know your situation in regards to contraception, but maybe this could be an option for you if you're not currently taking one. I am weird about taking many drugs, so I didn't and just let it run its course and I was fine, and am about to have my second child. I am not saying it might not be something serious, but it may just be a stressful time in your life that's the way your body is reacting to to it. Just an idea. Good luck figuring it out.

I go to a nurse practicionor (sp?) in Provo who specializes in woman's health. I absolutely love her and recommend her to everyone. I can give you her contact info and you can at least get a second consult before you pay the big bucks for a fertility doctor.

Bree- I know you don't know me that well- i'm Crystal Criddle from the ward- but I have the same problem. They're still trying to diagnose me. I'm just on a temporary fix aka: birth control. I went for over 6 months w/o my period. This has happened quite a bit- and in high school I went about a year w/o it. Don't hesitate to go to the gyno. Cancer it a risk, esp. if there is cancer history in your family. It's better to be safe than sorry. I personally think I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) but all my blood tests came back normal. Once Jon get's a full time job w/ insurance I'm going to get a second opinion. Don't worry- things will be fine. Sometimes our bodies just don't want to work properly :-) One bright side is that.. think of how much money in pads/tampons you've saved ;-)
